BookFusion offers more than one way to listen with Text to Speech.

Standard Text to Speech is available to all readers on all plans. Realistic Voices availability depends on your plan, platform, and whether your device supports specific downloadable models.

Standard Text to Speech​

Standard Text to Speech uses the voices already available on your device or browser.

This listening option is:

  • Available on Free, Casual, Advanced, and Power.
  • Available to all readers.
  • Available wherever supported by your device or browser.

If you want to start listening right away, Standard Text to Speech is the easiest option.

Realistic Voices​

Realistic Voices provide a more natural-sounding listening experience than Standard Text to Speech.

BookFusion supports two types of Realistic Voices:

  • Streaming models
  • Downloadable models

Streaming Realistic Voices​

Streaming Realistic Voices are available only on select plans.

This listening option is:

  • Available on Advanced and Power.
  • Available on Web, Android, and iOS.

Use streaming Realistic Voices when you want access to natural-sounding voices without downloading them to your device.

Downloadable Realistic Voices​

Some Realistic Voice models can be downloaded directly to supported mobile devices.

This listening option is:

  • Available on Free, Casual, Advanced, and Power.
  • Available on Android and iOS.
  • Available only for select downloadable models.
  • Available only when your device supports those models.

Some readers may be able to use downloadable Realistic Voices even if streaming Realistic Voices are not included in their plan.

Which option should I use?​

  • Use Standard Text to Speech if you want to start listening right away using the voices already available on your device or browser.
  • Use Streaming Realistic Voices if you're on an Advanced or Power plan and want a more natural listening experience on Web, Android, or iOS.
  • Use Downloadable Realistic Voices if your mobile device supports them and you want access to select natural-sounding voices directly on your device.

Why might I not see a Realistic Voice?​

You may not see a Realistic Voice if:

  • Your current plan does not include streaming Realistic Voices.
  • Your device does not support a downloadable model.
  • The selected voice is not available on your platform.
  • The voice has not been downloaded to your device yet.
  • Your app needs to be updated.
