Troubleshooting & FAQ
Solutions to the most common questions and issues with the BookFusion KOReader plugin. Click any question to expand the answer.
This book was not downloaded from BookFusion
This message means the plugin doesn't recognise the local file as one it downloaded. Remove and re-download the book through the plugin to resolve it. Books downloaded with much older versions of the plugin can show this until they're re-downloaded once.
A highlight shows in the Bookmarks list but isn't highlighted on another device
If a highlight appears in KOReader's Bookmarks menu but the text isn't visibly highlighted (and tapping it behaves like normal text), re-download the book on the affected device. Re-downloading applies the current highlight-sync handling to that title.
My reading position jumped back to the cover
This can happen when two devices sync the same book within a short interval of each other. Let one device finish syncing before opening the book on another, and avoid having the same book open on two devices at once. If you switch devices quickly, use Push reading position on the device you just finished with before opening the book elsewhere.
A book I just downloaded doesn't appear in the file browser
This is normal KOReader behaviour — the file browser doesn't always refresh on its own. Navigate out of the folder and back in to refresh the listing. You can also reopen the folder from the BookFusion dialogue.
Two books with the same title both show as "downloaded"
When a book has no ISBN in its metadata, the plugin may fall back to the title to identify it, so two books with identical titles can be treated as the same file. Give the books distinct titles in BookFusion, or add identifying metadata such as an ISBN, then re-download.
BookFusion isn't in my Tools menu, or KOReader uninstalled itself
First, confirm you're on KOReader 2026.03 ("Snowflake") or later and that the bookfusion.koplugin folder is in the koreader/plugins/ directory, then restart KOReader. On some devices, leaving Bluetooth on when you exit KOReader has been linked to KOReader removing itself — try turning Bluetooth off before exiting, then reinstall KOReader and the plugin.
I set the wrong download folder
You're prompted to choose a folder when you download, and you can pick a different folder on any download. To correct a previous choice, start a download and select the folder you actually want.
Do I lose anything in BookFusion if I remove and re-download a book?
No. Remove from device only deletes the local file on that device. Your book, reading progress, highlights, and notes remain safe in BookFusion and will sync back when you re-download.

- Bookmarks are not synced — only reading position and highlights.
- Manga and image-only EPUBs can render poorly in KOReader. This is a limitation of KOReader itself, not the BookFusion plugin.
- Library organisation (shelves, series grouping) is handled within KOReader using the embedded metadata; the plugin doesn't manage on-device shelves.
