Reading Time & Metadata

This page covers two things the plugin handles automatically when you read and download books: reading time tracking and metadata sync.

Reading Time Tracking

The plugin tracks how long you spend reading each book and syncs that data to BookFusion automatically — no setup required.

  • Your reading time is captured per book.
  • It's included in your weekly reading-time email summaries.
  • It will also feed the upcoming BookFusion Statistics features, which will let you explore your reading sessions and trends in more detail.

Reading time recorded in KOReader counts toward your overall BookFusion reading totals, just like time read in the BookFusion apps.

Metadata Sync

When you download a book through the plugin, BookFusion includes the book's current metadata so it displays correctly in KOReader.

What's Included

  • Series
  • Tags
  • Covers

This metadata is embedded in the EPUB at download time — BookFusion repackages the file with the latest information before sending it to your device.

Keeping Metadata Current

Because metadata is written into the file when you download it, changes you make in BookFusion after downloading won't appear on a book that's already on your device. If you update a book's series, tags, or cover in BookFusion, remove and re-download the book to pull the updated metadata.

KOReader manages on-device organisation

KOReader handles its own library organisation (shelves, series grouping, and so on) using this embedded metadata. The plugin intentionally stays lightweight and leaves on-device organisation to KOReader.
