Importing an Existing Library

There are two ways to move an existing collection into BookFusion. If your books are files on your computer, upload them in bulk from the web. If they're already in Calibre, use the BookFusion plugin.

Before you start

Make sure your files are supported and DRM-free, and check your plan's book limit. Free accounts hold up to 10 books in the cloud, so you'll need a paid plan to bring across a large collection.

Option 1 — Bulk Upload From the Web

Use this when your books are files in folders on your computer.

To upload books in bulk:

  1. Open your Bookshelf and click Upload in the top-right corner.

  2. In the Upload Books window, add many files at once:

    • Drag a group of files onto the window, or
    • Click Select Files, hold Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (macOS) to select several files, and click Open.
  3. Keep the window open until every book finishes uploading.

  4. Close the window to return to your Bookshelf.

Work in batches

For very large collections, upload a few dozen books at a time rather than everything at once. It's easier to check that each batch arrived.

Option 2 — Sync From Calibre

Use this when your library already lives in Calibre, the desktop eBook manager. The BookFusion plugin copies your books, covers, and metadata into your account.

To sync your Calibre library:

  1. Install the BookFusion plugin and add your API key. See Installing & Using the BookFusion Plugin for Calibre.

  2. Click the BookFusion icon on the Calibre toolbar and select Sync all books.

  3. In the sync dialogue, click Start.

Large libraries can take a while. You can leave the sync running in the background.

note

Sync goes one way, from Calibre to BookFusion. To send new books or metadata changes later, select them in Calibre and sync again.
